This week, the Modern Love podcast revisits the comedian Cecily Strong’s reading of “When the Doorman Is Your Main Man.”

In her 2015 essay, Julie Margaret Hogben describes the significant effect her doorman, Guzim, had on her life. Beyond advising Ms. Hogben as she navigated New York City’s dating scene, Guzim supported her as she decided to become a single mother.

Ms. Hogben is a former TV writer and the author of the novel “Ally Hughes Has Sex Sometimes.” Ms. Strong is an actress and longtime cast member on “Saturday Night Live.” Stay tuned after the reading to hear more from her, Ms. Hogben, the Modern Love editor Daniel Jones and a surprise guest (who may or may not be Guzim).
